Minneapolis Skyways through a Wide Aperture
My camera's chin
Tilted upward from a downtown street,
Aperture wide
Shutter slow
Captures adults
Overexposed
Like stars of astro-photographers
In streams overhead.
Only the form of one small child
Reaches my camera's eye,
Red mittens dangling from her wrists,
to make a lasting impression on my film.
She looks down at me and smiles.
I smile, too, raise my hand to her
And tuck it back into the nest of my
Green jacket.
She waves back,
Turns to look ahead and then
disappears into the blur.
