ADVENTURES IN NEW PUPPETRY
MICHAEL SOMMERS AND COMPANY A PRELUDE TO FAUST
Twin Cities based puppeteer-theatrical director-visual and performance artist Michael Sommers creates an intimately scaled new work, inspired by the Biblical tale of Job and Goethe's Faust, which incorporates puppeteers Sommers, Julian McFaul, Nancy Seward, and Kate Brehn and new music by Andrew McCormick performed live by McCormick, Jaron Childs, and Seraphene Abrahams. Witty and dark,A Prelude to Faust takes a postmodern view of these classic texts, alternately vaudevillian and ironic in its approach. Commissioned by the Walker and copresented with Patrick's Cabaret.
A PRELUDE TO FAUST WAS SUPPORTED, IN PART, WITH FUNDS FROM THE JEROME FOUNDATION. THE ADVENTURES IN NEW PUPPETRY SERIES IS MADE POSSIBLE WITH THE GENEROUS SUPPORT OF TARGET STORES.
