Baghdad in No Particular Order

Paul Chan created this work in late 2002/early 2003 as a member of the Iraq Peace Team, a group initiated by Voices in the Wilderness, the Nobel Peace Prize–nominated Iraqi activist group that worked to nonviolently challenge the U.S. campaign for war. The ambient video essay captures daily life in Baghdad prior to the country’s invasion as men dance, women draw, and sufis sing. 2003, video, in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish with English subtitles, 51 minutes.
