Motionpoems 2013

“An ongoing project that has become cafe, guest house, gallery, and experimental stage where words and images can meet, converse, barn-raise, feast, and dance.” —poet Jane Hirshfield

Motionpoems introduces video artists to literary artists, transforming great contemporary poems into compelling short films. It began as a spark between two Minnesota artists—motion designer/producer Angella Kassube and poet Todd Boss—and has grown in four short years into a new hybrid form. Now a nationally recognized program coproduced by the duo, Motionpoems premieres about a dozen new shorts annually, building new audiences for poetry through screenings in theaters and free distribution online. This year the Walker hosts the premiere of Motionpoems’ 2013 selections. Program length 60 minutes.

Copresented with Motionpoems and the Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival, which runs April 11–28, 2013. For more information, including the full 2013 film festival program, visit www.mspfilmfest.org.
