Free First Saturday: Explore!

Colorful illustration of landscape with young boy, flowers growing out of piano keys, a spider, a strawberry hooked up to electric cables, and other objects

Stop by the Walker to explore the galleries with a scavenger hunt, create a giant collaborative artwork, watch a fun, family friendly short film, and grab an art kit to make art inspired by artwork at the Walker or in the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.

Get creative with projects inspired by artworks from the Walker and Minneapolis Sculpture Garden! Each kit will contain instructions and all the materials you need to create your own artwork. For ages 5 and up, young children will need some help from an adult. Quantities are limited.

Art kits will be available for pickup in the Walker’s Main Lobby. Entry to the galleries is not required to pick up an art kit.

Stop by the Bentson Mediatheque to watch a short film! The film will loop throughout the day between 10 am and 3 pm; capacity is limited to 10 people at a time. This is a relaxed screening. Recommended for ages 3 and up.

If you’ve ever been the youngest of the group, you’ll sympathize with the little tadpole who always falls a tad behind in the charming KUAP. (Nils Hedinger, 2018, Switzerland, animated, 7 min.)

The film will have captioning. To request accommodations for this program or for more information about accessibility, call 612-375-7564 or email

For more information about accessibility at the Walker, visit our Access page.

On Free First Saturdays we require visitors over the age of 2 to wear face masks inside the building to support the safety and comfort of families and attendees. We ask that you continue to maintain a minimum distance of 6 feet away from people not in your household group.
