WeShouldDoItAll (WSDIA)

The ethos of Brooklyn-based studio WeShouldDoItAll (WSDIA) is that designers should not be constrained to a singular expertise. WSDIA’s work oscillates between branding, spatial, environmental, interactive, and print projects. As the creative lead for the inaugural Community Galleries in the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, DC, WSDIA took a nontraditional approach that created a linear path to connect multiple galleries by highlighting how African Americans crafted possibilities in a world that denied them opportunities. Exploring themes of agency, creativity, and resiliency, WSDIA explores reflective and progressive approaches to the importance of identity within projects and a design studio.

Copresented by the Walker Art Center and AIGA Minnesota.

Jonathan Jackson, principal of WeShouldDoItAll (WSDIA), brings 20 years of architectural, spatial, and graphic design experience for global brands to the team. He graduated from Kent State University with a degree in architecture. Prior to founding WSDIA in 2004, he worked for architects Studio Archea in Italy, Archi-Tectonics, and Lindy Roy in New York. He served two years on the board of directors of AIGA/NY and has served as a visiting critic at Columbia University GSAPP, Rhode Island School of Design, and has lectured at the ESVMD in Switzerland; UsByNight Design Festival in Antwerp, Belgium; Harvard Graduate School of Design; University of Michigan Taubman College of Architecture & Urban Planning; and Syracuse University School of Architecture. Jackson’s multifaceted design portfolio includes environmental graphics and signage system for Nike’s 150,000 sq. ft. headquarters in New York. Under the umbrella of Ralph Appelbaum Associates, WSDIA was a lead exhibition design team for the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, which opened in Washington, DC, in 2016.
