Celebrate winter and the Walker’s collection by exploring the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden on snowshoes provided by the University of Minnesota Center for Outdoor Adventure, then visit the Walker Library for a rare close-up look into the treasures from the Rosemary Furtak Collection of over 2000 artists’ books, multiples, zines, mail art, and ephemera.
Snowshoeing will take place until 8:30 pm; quantities and sizes are limited.
Activities are subject to change or cancellation. Please note: snowshoeing is weather permitting and will be canceled if temperatures are projected to be below 10 degrees Fahrenheit. Please check back for updates, details, and COVID-19 guidelines as the program approaches.
Walker Art Center Library: Explore Mail Art
Mail Art was born out of artists’ desire to make their work more visible and accessible without having to rely on galleries or museums. Join us in the library as we view and discuss what mail art is. We will have works on view by Ray Johnson, David E. Thompson (Davi Det Hompson), and May Wilson. Library capacity of 20 people at a time.
