Grab your Game Boy, reset your Tamagotchi, put on your favorite CD, and head over to the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden for a Free First Saturday full of ’90s nostalgia. Interactive, artist-led activities and performances will explore the iconic and reemerging style of the decade.
Free First Saturday also features free gallery admission on the first Saturday of every month. Gallery admission tickets are available on-site on the event day from the Main Lobby desk; quantities are limited. Free admission 10 am–5 pm; activities 10 am–3 pm.

Art-making Activity: Pony Beads Please, 10 am–3 pm
Use colorful pony beads to create a throwback gecko or snake keychain to decorate your backpack or share with a friend!
Art-making Activity: Pixel Pictures, 10 am–3 pm
Take inspiration from popular video and arcade games of the ’90s as you design your own pixel art character and scenery on graph paper!
’90s Dance Party with DJ Sanni B, 10:15 am and 12:15 pm
Show off your moves to all the best ‘90s jams during a family-friendly dance party hosted by DJ Sanni B of the Current and Carbon Sound.
Cypher Side Dance School Performances, 11:30 am and 1:30 pm
Instructors and students from Cypher Side Dance School are here to teach you some new dance moves in an interactive performance!
Family Tour, 11:30 am
Tour for General Audiences, 1 pm
Join a Walker educator for a family-friendly guided tour of the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden at 11:30 am (40 min.), or take a guided tour for general audiences at 1 pm (60 min.). To participate, meet outside the Walker’s Main Entrance five minutes before the tour start time. Tours explore a selection of artworks and include interactive discussion.
Bios
Cypher Side Dance School is a dance studio based in St. Paul specializing in hip-hop and break dancing for all ages. Cypher Side offers classes to students aged 5 and up.
Sanni Brown is the host of The Message, The Current’s hip-hop and R&B show, airing Wednesdays from 10–11 pm. She is also a host on the Carbon Sound and Purple Current streams. Brown is also a host and producer for 107.1 MyTalk, and worked as a host and producer at TPT – Twin Cities PBS, KMOJ-FM, and KFAI-FM. Outside of her work in broadcasting, Brown is a professional speaker, licensed barber, and singer who performs as a solo artist and with Lady Lark. Brown is a graduate of Concordia University, St. Paul, winner of Brown College’s “You Wanna Be A DJ?” voice talent, and certified Nerd Goddess.
