Robert Smith III is Assistant Curator of Education, Learning and Interpretation at The Art Institute of Chicago. A doctoral student in the Department of American Studies at the University of Minnesota, he served as community coordinator for Theaster Gates's installation See, Sit, Sup, Sip, Sing: Holding Court during the Walker'as 2014–2015 presentation of Radical Presence: Black Performance in Contemporary Art. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University.
