Introducing: Playing the Field, brought to you by the duo FutureLabs

Playing the Field is a science informed speed friending and dating event. We’ll provide series of fun activities that will help you get the ball rolling to embark on the friend-posal or date-venture of your dreams! Bring a friend, make a friend, meet a love interest, or just enjoy a dose of information provided by relationship scientist Yuthika Girme.

Created out of an interest in: meeting people in a meaningful way. At the typical speed dating event or party, there’s so much working against you to create that spark: unbearably loud music, spilled drinks, and dry elevator pitches. Playing the Field wastes no time by providing activities that are grounded in the science of attraction. Through a series of novel and interactive games, everyone will be given an opportunity to be their bad, beautiful selves!

Might remind you of: that warm and fuzzy feeling inside.

Looks like: science meets your ideal social setting. Participants will be partnered at two-person tables for multiple rounds of speed dating or friending. A sneak peek into some of the titled activities to come:

  • We’re Moving Too Fast
  • Mixed Tape
  • As the Spirit (Animal) Moves You
  • The Silent Treatment (+ Prize)
  • The Super Secret Handshake
  • Ask & Sniff

Useful if: you’re looking to make new friends or more in an unconventional setting and learn about relationship science.

You can find Playing the Field at Open Field Thursdays, June 19 and June 26 from 6-8 PM in The Grove.
