Curator's Council Logo

Established in 2022, the Curator’s Council provides members with opportunities to gain exposure to the art of our time through access to curators, artists, and specialists with knowledge of the issues and practices of contemporary art, moving image, performing arts, art education, and design. Intended to provide social and intellectual exchange with Walker curators, patrons, and artists, the Curator’s Council serves as a forum for dialogue and learning as participants advance their interest and enthusiasm for contemporary culture.

Activities

The council meets six times per season (September–June). Events are centered around experiences and educational opportunities that encompass distinct elements, including guest speakers and panels, curator-led exhibition tours, and visits to local artists’ studios, arts organizations, and private collections. In addition, members are offered VIP credentials to Art Basel Miami Beach, North America’s preeminent contemporary art fair.

Composition

The Curator’s Council includes all Patron’s Circle ($2,500) members and above. All Friend ($500) and Partner ($1,000) members under age 40 may opt-in by contacting the Development Office. The council is led by member co-chairs who work with Walker staff liaisons to shape the season. A co-chair term is typically two years.
