Grand-opening Celebration

Join us for the Grand-opening Celebration of the new Walker Art Center with a daylong festival highlighting everything the new Walker has to offer, including exhibitions, performances, films, and family art-making activities. Special tours of exhibitions and the new Walker’s distinctive architecture will be offered every hour beginning at 11 am.

Enjoy a variety of performances by internationally acclaimed artists, including Philip Glass, Meredith Monk with Theo Bleckmann, Mugiyono Kasido, Steve Tibbetts with Choying Drolma, and Rizwan-Muazzam Qawwali. Drop into a history of cinema, drawn from the Walker collection; the films span more than a century, from the Lumière brothers to Benita Rapham. Enjoy guided tours of the new building and newly reinstalled permanent collection galleries.

The new Gallery 8 Café and Bazinet Garden Lobby Coffee Cart, featuring the cuisine of Wolfgang Puck, will be open for business throughout the day and evening, as will the new Walker Shop.
