Just as Coleman’s innovations ignore the boundaries between musical styles, this eight-hour aural sampler of work by Minnesota’s finest and most daring musicmakers features a range of national guests. Headwaters Music and the Walker present another wonderful ride through vital music from near and far with performances by The Bad Plus, Dean Granros with the AntiGravity Ensemble, Dosh, Zebulon Pike, Douglas Ewart/Gao Hong/Steve Goldstein/Mankwe Ndosi, Fat Kid Wednesdays, Fernando Meza and Erik Barsness, Gloryland Ponycat, Happy Apple, Nachito Herrera, Nirmala Rajasekar and Anthony Cox Ensemble, Rehobot Oromo Choir, Patrick Crossland, Tom Chiu, Zeitgeist, the Minneapolis Guitar Quartet, the Bang on a Can All-Stars with the world-premiere of a new Ornette Coleman commission, and many other special guests.
