Heroic Grace: Chinese Martial Arts Films
A generation of filmmakers from Ang Lee to Quentin Tarantino has been influenced by the history and tradition of Hong Kong action films of the 1970s and ’80s. Drawn from the collection of the Shaw Brothers Studio in Hong Kong, this series digs into that enormously creative period when the beauty of kung fu, gravity-defying action, and wuxia pian (swordplay movies) came to the attention of the film world. Organized by UCLA Film Archives.
