Welcome to Walker 101. In today’s lesson, you’ll learn how math, science, reading, and music help us experience art.
Gallery Crawl: Science Stops, 10 am–2 pm
Learn how physics, chemistry, and math have inspired artists in the collection.
Art-Making for the Entire Family: Brain Games, 10 am–3 pm
Custom-design your very own game board inspired by shapes and patterns found in the Walker’s architecture. Then strategize your next moves at the brain games station, where families can participate in Pictionary, checkers, and go fish tournaments.
On the Big Screen: Silent Film School, 10 am–5 pm
Study legendary screen comics Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin during an all-day slapstick marathon in the U.S. Bank Orientation Lounge. Giggles may be difficult to suppress!
Performance: The New Standards, 11 am and 1 pm
Feel the rhythms, clap your hands, and count the beats. Families are in for a musical treat when this band hits the stage. To listen to musical selections, visit their site.
Art-Making for the Entire Family: Copycat, 11 am–4 pm
Copy and collage images into a small fabric book using Xeroxtransfer techniques and rubber stamps with artist Sarah Huber.
Story-Reading: Alphabet Soup, 2, 2:30, 3, and 3:30 pm
