Experience the dance, music, mythology, and culture of India and Bali! Take a trip to the magical Dandhakaranya forest, where the kidnapping of the princess Sita by the ten-headed King Ravana has set in motion an epic adventure. A dramatic rescue attempt by the King of Birds leads to a mid-air battle on a flying chariot. The Monkey King Hanuman leaps across the ocean, followed by an army of animals who fight to set the princess free.
Minneapolis’ own Ragamala Dance joins forces with the Çudamani ensemble (from Pengosekan Village in Bali, Indonesia) to present Dhvee (Duality)–a brand new work based on scenes from the ancient and exhilarating Indian epic tale, Ramayana. This heroic tale–told by a cast of 25 musicians and dancers from Bali and India–is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for students to experience the arts, culture, and mythology of Bali and India.
