Purple Rain

The film that immortalized First Avenue and the purifying waters of Lake Minnetonka. “The Kid,” aka Prince, and his band the Revolution take on Morris Day and the Time as they climb to the top of the Minneapolis music scene—with aspiring singer Apollonia in tow. Songs by Prince, “perhaps the greatest living performer in the pop tradition” (New Yorker), make for a flamboyant and now-classic soundtrack. 1984, 35mm, 111 minutes.

A reception with cash bar follows in the Garden Cafe by D’Amico.

Please note: Admission will be charged for the screening; the “free” listing was a misprint.
