Berlin

Bonanza is an intelligently made, sometimes hilarious and yet oh so poignant Paradise Lost.” —Zone 09 (Ghent, Belgium)

This unique documentary by the Antwerp-based multimedia group Berlin brings to life an intimate portrait of the smallest (and wackiest) town in Colorado. Bonanza is made up of seven inhabitants, a city council, and a mayor who doesn’t live within the city limits. The citizens lead oddly charming and independent lives, but their solitude is disrupted by fights, gossip, murder, and a lawsuit, putting the existence of the town at risk. A large scale model and five onstage screens represent each household in this fascinating portrait of a city, an inspired melding of film and theater.
