After nearly a decade of pursuing these remarkable artists, the Walker (and partners the Cedar and Sue McLean & Associates) bring African music superstars Amadou & Mariam to Minnesota for the first time for a rare and intimate concert experience. The blind husband and wife duo along with full band deliver their signature mix of Malian blues, rock, pop, and traditional West African music.
In recent years, their collaborations with Damon Albarn (Gorillaz), Paris-based music provocateur Manu Chao, and stadium tours opening for Coldplay and U2 have spread their infectious, innovative music far and wide. Their collaborative spirit also imbues their newest recording Folila (out in March on Nonesuch Records), which features guest appearances by Santigold; TV on the Radio; Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs; Theophilus London, and Bassekou Kouyate (who the Walker and the Cedar introduced in 2010).
Doors open at 7 pm. This all-ages show is standing room only and is sure to sell out. Copresented with the Cedar.
