If you’ve ever seen a picture or animation on the Google homepage, you’re already familiar with Google “doodles.” Doodles are creative interpretations of the Google logo that highlight noteworthy events or anniversaries, such as Thomas Edison’s birthday or the invention of the ice cream sundae.
Doodle 4 Google is a contest in which K–12 students from across the country are invited to use their artistic talents to think big and create their own illustration for millions to see. This year, more than 114,000 students doodled on the theme “If I could travel in time, I’d visit…” A panel of judges determined one finalist from each grade group (K–3, 4–5, 6–7, 8–9, 10–12) in every state. From these, state and national winners were selected.
The Walker is one of many local organizations across the country exhibiting the artwork of the Doodle 4 Google 2012 contest. This exhibit showcases the best doodles from Minnesota and celebrates the creativity and artistic talents of local youth.
