Tony Conrad: DreaMinimalist

Marie Losier constructs a touching, often hilarious portrait of avant-garde director and artist Tony Conrad as they cavort in his kitsch-filled home in Buffalo, New York. They sing, dance, dress in elaborate costumes, and pickle movies as Conrad recounts his early years and his collaboration with filmmaker Jack Smith. 2008, video, 25 minutes.

Losier’s new feature film, The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye, premieres at the Walker on April 4. Conrad’s Yellow Movie is on view in the exhibition Absentee Landlord.
