Lightsey Darst, dance critic, poet, and author of Find the Girl (Coffee House Press, 2010) and the forthcoming Dance (September 2013), will present new work inspired by her two-week writer’s residency in the Walker Art Center’s resource library. Join Darst and Walker archivist Jill Vuchetich in a discussion about her stint inside one of the country’s largest museum library collections of contemporary art monographs, ephemera, and artists’ books.
Darst is the first writer-in-residence in the Writers and Readers Library Residency Program, part of Coffee House Press’s Books in Action initiative. This new program aims to create a body of work that will inspire a broader public to engage with their local libraries in new and meaningful ways and encourages artists and the general public to think about libraries as creative spaces.
