Bouncing off the walls? We’re opening our house to you! Fun family activities will get you moving, making, and more.
Enjoy free gallery admission and family fun for all on the first Saturday of each month. Activities designed for kids ages 6 to 12 are offered from 10 am to 3 pm.
Art-Making: Pattern and Print
10 am–3 pm
Star Tribune Foundation Art Lab
Discover how printmakers use positive and negative space. Design a simple block print and create a composition by applying it multiple times.
Art-Making: Trails and Trackers, 10 am–3 pm
Like animals in the snow, art materials also leave marks. Track a material’s trail to create the kind of creature that you imagine makes itself at home in the Walker.
Gallery Activity: Museum Maze, 10 am–3 pm
Bazinet Garden Lobby
Swing by the table in the lobby to pick up an activity sheet designed by local artist Alyssa Baguss. Let it take you winding through a maze of art and architecture in the galleries!
Gallery Activity: Tot Tours, 10–11 am
Galleries 1, 3 and 4
Visit three different stations to hear a story about a city street, a mouse and a forest as you explore the galleries.
Gallery Activity: Open Space–A Museum Memory Project, 11 am–1 pm
Pick up a postcard in the Bazinet Lobby and then wander the galleries up to the Medtronic Gallery (level 7). Use a typewriter to create a written response based on your visual memory of artworks you discovered along the way.
