Dear White People

Justin Simien’s directorial debut is a witty satire about African American students on a university campus (shot at the University of Minnesota). A controversy over race breaks out when a contested student election sets in motion “a plot that is full of intrigue and surprise in a mood of sly, knowing satire” (New York Times). Nothing is simply black and white in this playful portrait of race and cultural identity on today’s campus. Watch a conversation recorded at Walker with the filmmakers here. 2014, US, 100 minutes.
