Enjoy free gallery admission and family fun on the first Saturday of each month. On Free First Saturday, Walker gallery admission is free for all from 10 am to 5 pm, with a variety of family activities designed for ages 5 through 12 offered from 10 am to 3 pm.
Activity: Design & Inscribe, 10 am–3 pm
Alter the landscape and rearrange sculptures to design a personalized garden on a postcard. Then join Eva Margolis to compose a message, poem, or story about the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. Sign up to share your piece at Free First Saturday Open Mic.
Art-Making: Felt Garden, 10 am–3 pm
Artists from the Textile Center will be on hand to help you transfer loose wool into a colorful felted artwork with bubbles, water, and your feet and hands. Learn how to felt a cherry of your own to bring home!
Activity: Tag It, 11 am–2 pm
Give Fritz Haeg’s Foraging Circle a send-off by assisting landscape designer Anna Bierbrauer to identify and tag plants before they move to their new home.
Music: Art Beats, 10 am–3 pm
Listen and dance to funky family friendly music sets by DJ Sy Diggs.
Performance: Free First Saturday Open Mic, 12 noon
