About the Presenters
Maura Rockcastle and Ross Altheimer share 25 years of practice in cultural, campus, and public realm projects. Both previously led landscape practices that were part of larger multidisciplinary design firms before founding TEN x TEN in 2015. The two met while teaching at the University of Minnesota’s College of Design.
Rockcastle has extensive experience working on large-scale public projects. With a background in printmaking and sculpture, she balances a rigorous approach to project management and design quality with a conceptual sensibility rooted in process. Altheimer combines the logic of architecture with the art and temporality of landscape and has led the completion of numerous cultural, campus, and public realm projects. Their decision to copractice emerged out of conversations about the future of landscape architecture and the passion to do work that is more inspired, immersive, and enduring. Together they collaborate to create future-focused landscapes that will adapt to social, economic, and environmental transformation.
