Gallery admission is free for everyone on the first Saturday of each month from 10 am to 6 pm, with a variety of family activities scheduled from 10 am to 3 pm.
Join us in the celebration of our newly designed entry, main lobby, and restaurant spaces with performances, art-making, guided tours, film, and workshops. This event is part of Walker Open House, a weekend-long celebration.
Performance: Fragile, 11 am and 1 pm
Fragile invites us to look carefully at our everyday world and dream a little. Watch multidisciplinary artist Robert Leveroos assemble and disassemble art, animation, and handmade objects in this mesmerizing performance.
Activity: Extrapolation Factory, 10 am–6 pm
Star Tribune Foundation Art Lab
Imagine what lifestyles will be like in the future. Join the Extrapolation Factory for a drop-in workshop to learn about unexplored options for life on Earth and to suggest ways we might interact with our environment. This event, led by the Walker artists-in-residence Chris Woebken and Elliott P. Montgomery, will help participants invent new visions that will be part of an exhibition in June 2017.

Target Project Space
Learn about a new large-scale work by Minnesota-based artist Frank Big Bear. The Walker Collage, Multiverse #10 is the first artwork to be installed in the Walker’s Target Project Space in the renovated main entry. Join teens from the Little Earth Arts Collective for a spotlight talk, drawing from stories and experiences gained in their activities with Big Bear during his artist workshop.
Activity: Imaginary Space, 10 am–3 pm
Design a mini world out of paper that bridges reality and fantasy. Create your favorite place and envision where your dreams take you.
Activity: Open Library, 10 am–3 pm
Browse the shelves and take a look at books about your favorite contemporary artist. Selected materials about the history of the Walker will also be on view.
