Music: Mixed Blood Majority
“The Twin Cities’ most underappreciated hip-hop group.” —89.3 The Current
Wha? A hip-hop supergroup that features producer Lazerbeak (Doomtree) and two of the most revered MC’s in town—Crescent Moon (Kill the Vultures) and Joe Horton (No Bird Sing)? With provocative rhymes and joyous beats, they kick a heady and hypnotic sound that offers a “seething, bleary-eyed view of race relations and socioeconomics … with some of the rowdiest, liveliest, most dancefloor-ready beats of producer Lazerbeak’s career” (Star Tribune).

“Funny and enormously likeable, it’s a lighthearted and utterly delightful film.” —AV Club
“[Myers and Carvey] made you feel like you were on the right side of Wayne and Garth’s inside joke on the world.” —Rolling Stone
Set within the world of public access television, Wayne’s World is the story of metalheads Wayne and Garth (iconically played by Mike Myers and Dana Carvey), whose low-budget program is purchased by a sleazy TV producer (the perfectly cast Rob Lowe) and corporate sponsors attempting to appear “chill and fresh.” Directed by punk-visionary Penelope Spheeris, who attracted the attention of SNL luminaries Lorne Michaels and Myers after her work on The Decline of Western Civilization parts I and II, Wayne’s World offers up comedic irreverence infused with disdain for corporate conformity as it lovingly commemorates the moment when public access brought the power of television to ordinary people. Party on! 1992, 94 minutes.
