Join us for a celebration in the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden featuring music, art-making, and more. Gallery admission is free for everyone on the first Saturday of each month from 10 am to 6 pm, with a variety of family activities scheduled from 10 am to 3 pm.
Performances: Les moutons (The Sheep), 11 am and 1 pm
In this whimsical and wordless performance, a rural country scene is re-created in an urban setting. Travel to a strange and hilarious universe as the Toronto-based performance group CORPUS takes families through a carefully studied, surrealistic overview of sheep behavior. Les moutons will also be performed on Sunday, September 3.
Performance: Ambassadors of Culture, 12 noon
Experience the musical fusion of Afrobeat rhythms and American indie pop of local group Ambassadors of Culture. Join former Aviette frontwoman Holly Muñoz and Dalmar Yare, a favorite in the Somali music scene, as they perform together with a full band and Somali dancers.
Performance: DJ Mickey Breeze, 10 am–12 noon and 1–3 pm
Get your groove on as you enjoy a performance by local 16-year-old DJ, musician, producer, teacher, and entrepreneur DJ Mickey Breeze.
Art-Making: Mix Up, 10 am–3 pm
Design a one-of-a-kind drawing of the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden by mix and matching stencils created by local artist Carolyn Swiszcz.
