The Searchers (Maliglutit)

A reimagining of John Ford’s classic western of the same title, The Searchers is the story of an Inuk man’s quest to find the invaders who destroyed his home and kidnapped his wife. Gorgeously set in the expanse of the Arctic tundra, the film explores community, revenge, and the meaning of justice. This film, the third feature from Inuit filmmaker Zacharias Kunuk, includes a score by Tanya Tagaq. 2016, Canada, in Inuktitut with English subtitles, 94 minutes.
