Twin Cities Arab Film Festival Opening Night
Mizna’s 12th Twin Cities Arab Film Festival opens with the engaging and music-filled drama Tramontane, directed by Vatche Boulghourjian. The story follows a young blind musician whose quiet life quickly unravels when he applies for a passport and discovers that his identification card is a forgery. Searching for answers, he travels across Lebanon to find a record of his birth, but discovers further complexities tied both to Lebanon’s past and his own origins. Realizing it might be impossible to reconcile his legal self with his family roots, he finds solace in music. 2016, DCP, in Arabic with English subtitles, 105 minutes.

The Twin Cities Arab Film Festival

Mizna’s 12th Twin Cities Arab Film Festival showcases films made by Arab filmmakers from Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt, Palestine, Tunisia, and more. The opening-night screening, copresented by Mizna and the Walker, is presented in the Walker Cinema. All other festival films will be screened at St. Anthony Main Theatre (115 SE Main Street, Minneapolis), in partnership with the Film Society of Minneapolis St. Paul. Mizna’s Twin Cities Arab Film Festival is supported by premier sponsors the Left Tilt Fund and the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council.
