Open to members at the $5,000 Partner-level and above, the Walker Forum brings together art enthusiasts, creative professionals, and Walker patrons who share a commitment to the arts and the Twin Cities’ vibrant cultural community.
Join us for an evening with art historian Matthew Israel of Artsy, the website that aims to make art accessible to anyone with an Internet connection. Israel currently serves as curator-at-large and director of Artsy OnSite, a global series of artist and curator talks and conversations. In his previous role as director of the Art Genome Project, he led the development of a system of classification that allows users to discover new artists through recommendations based on similarity. A contributor to various international art magazines and exhibition catalogues, Israel has also worked for prominent galleries; managed major artist estates and foundations; and taught modern and contemporary art at NYU, where he received a PhD in Art History. His book The Big Picture: Contemporary Art in 10 Artworks by 10 Artists (Prestel, 2017) is scheduled for release in March.
