A free pre-release screening of Todd Haynes’s latest film continues the Walker’s longtime relationship with the acclaimed independent filmmaker.
Based on Brian Selznick’s novel for young readers, Wonderstruck is a visually stunning, stylish, and emotional feature capturing the adventures of two runaway deaf kids from different eras whose lives magically intersect. The 1970s Minnesotan Ben longs for the father he has never known, while 1920s Rose from Hoboken, New Jersey, dreams of a mysterious actress whose life she chronicles in a scrapbook. In a story that unfolds with mesmerizing symmetry, both 12-year-olds set out on quests to find what they are missing and land together in New York City’s enchanted Museum of Natural History. With a gifted young cast—Oakes Fegley (Pete’s Dragon) and Millicent Simmonds, a deaf actress making her debut—and supporting roles played by Julianne Moore (Far from Heaven, Safe) and Michelle Williams (I’m Not There); score by Carter Burwell. 2017, open captioned, DCP, 117 minutes.
Free tickets are available at the Main Lobby desk from 6 pm.
