Performing Arts Season 2018/2019
Hailu Mergia, Meredith Monk, Henry Threadgill, and Thurston Moore. Sarah Michelson and Rabih Mroué. Kaneza Schaal and Wadada Leo Smith. Master innovators, known and unknown, are celebrated across 2018–2019 at the Walker. They are joined by new voices and mid-career artists creating unprecedented performances free of disciplinary boundaries. Experience the joy of the cerebral and the intimacy of the global. The ancient made ageless. Culture as communion. Seven commissions, six world premieres, and one US premiere. This season, the future of performance is at the Walker Art Center.
The Walker Art Center’s Performing Arts programs are made possible by generous support from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation through the Doris Duke Performing Arts Fund, the William and Nadine McGuire Commissioning Fund, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
