London and Los Angeles–based artist Patrick Staff works with film, installation, dance, and performance to investigate dissent, labor, and the queer body. Staff’s most recent film, Weed Killer (2017) adapts artist Catherine Lord’s moving, often irreverent cancer memoir The Summer of Her Baldness (2004) to examine the boundaries between illness and health, pain and pleasure, and the social and individual body.
A selection of related titles from the Walker’s Ruben/Bentson Moving Image Collection follows the screening, concluding with a Q&A with Staff and Sara Cluggish, codirector of FD13 residency for the arts.
