Walker Summer Forum 2019 with Sean Sherman

Walker Partner-level Members are invited to join us for an evening with Minneapolis’ own Sean Sherman, CEO of The Sioux Chef and co-founder of North American Traditional Indigenous Food Systems (NATIFS).

Chef Sean Sherman (Oglala Lakota, born in Pine Ridge, South Dakota) has been cooking across the US and Mexico over the past 30 years. He has become renowned nationally and internationally in the culinary movement of Indigenous foods, with his focus on the revitalization and evolution of Indigenous foods systems throughout North America. Sherman, along with The Sioux Chef team, continues his mission to educate and make Indigenous foods more accessible to as many communities as possible through the nonprofit NATIFS. Sherman’s many accolades include a 2015 Artists in Business Leadership Fellowship from the First Peoples Fund, 2018 Bush Foundation Fellowship, the 2018 First American Entrepreneurship Award from the National Center, 2018 James Beard Award for Best American Cookbook, and 2019 James Beard Leadership Award.

Walker Forum is an intimate quarterly salon exploring the many ways contemporary art intersects with innovative work in other sectors around the country. Open to members at the Partner-level ($5,000) and above, the Forum brings together art enthusiasts, creative professionals, and patrons who share a commitment to the arts and the Twin Cities’ vibrant cultural community.
