Seeing Red: Stories of American Communists

Julia Reichert, Seeing Red, 1983. Image courtesy the artist.

Boldly countering traditional myths through engaging interviews, Reichert brings to light the dramatic history of the Communist Party in the United States from the 1930s to the 1980s. The documentary reveals just how far the US government, justice system, and media went to suppress and attack subversives, and the personal accounts of a dozen rank-and-file members take on a new resonance in today’s charged political climate. 1983, DCP, 100 min.
