Rhayne Vermette’s debut feature follows the return of Renée (played by Vermette) to her Métis community in Manitoba. Grounded in the light of expansive, prairie skies and the glow of familiar fires, the film’s dream-like 16mm cinematography reflects the many layers of her homecoming, fraught with complexities, as the narrative flows through the people and places of Renée’s present, past, and future. 2021, Canada, DCP, in French with English subtitles, 79 min.
Includes post-show conversation with filmmaker Rhayne Vermette (virtual) and actor Jack Theis (onstage).
