Join the Filipinx community in Minnesota for Buhay Na Buhay, part of the Summer Social Free Thursday Nights.

A rich evening filled with storytelling, dancing, art-making, food trucks, live music, and more. In celebration of Pacita Abad’s exhibit, the community curated a mini-festival with performances, four interactive activity stations, and, of course, food from local Filipinx vendors! Programming will take place indoors, with food trucks and refreshments found outside.

Activity stations will spread throughout the Walker and outdoor spaces.

Performance:
Shows start at 6 pm in the Walker Cinema, showcasing local Filipinx performers through song, traditional and modern dance, martial arts, spoken word, and much more!

Learn & Respond:
Learn about Pacita’s life in parallel with Philippine and Filipinx-American history, exploring themes of solidarity and resistance on an interactive timeline. Hear stories from community members and continue the conversation.

Storytelling:
Share and engage in compelling conversational circles around Pacita Abad’s art, contextualized by cultural perspectives and prompts with storytellers of all experiences.

Art-making Activity – Memory Map:
“A Story Map to the Ancestors” is a chance to connect with others through your journey across the world. Collaborate in co-creating a collective memory map with Minnesota visual artists.

Quiet Space:
Take a break from the heat and activities in the Quiet Space, a sensory calming haven reserved as a rest space for anyone who needs it.
