Gather with fellow Patron’s, Advocate’s, and Director’s Circle members and special invited guests to celebrate the world premiere of Cécile McLorin Salvant’s new multimedia work Ogresse: Envisioned, a Walker commission.
Multiple Grammy Award–winning jazz vocalist, composer, and visual artist Cécile McLorin Salvant has created a darkly humorous fairy tale that explores themes of power, gender, race, body diversity, and love. The piece is driven by an enthralling, genre-defying score composed by Salvant and performed by a 13-piece chamber orchestra, arranged and conducted by Darcy James Argue. Projected above the stage, the Ogresse’s forest home is conjured with imagery co-created by Belgian animator Lia Bertels and Salvant in this not-to-be-missed performance.
