In celebration of the opening of the exhibition Sophie Calle: Overshare, join us for an opening-day talk with Calle and fellow artist Laurie Anderson. Long-time friends and co-conspirators, they will center their discussion on art, intimacy, and the artistic process.

Tickets are now on sale. In the event of a sell-out, a standby line will be available the morning of the talk.

Questions for the artists? Send them to greetings@walkerart.org prior to the lecture and we’ll do our best to address it during the program.

Sophie Calle has exhibited extensively since the late 1970s. Her conceptually based work is known for its distinct narrative elements and frequent combination of photographs and text. Throughout, Calle blurs the boundaries between the intimate and the public, reality and fiction, art and life. Solo exhibitions of her work have been staged at the Palais de Tokyo, Paris; Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston; Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; Whitechapel Art Gallery, London; Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Rotterdam; Tel Aviv Museum of Art; Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Humlebæk; Museum of Contemporary Art, Santiago; and Hara Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo. In 2023 Calle became the first artist to mount an exhibition filling all the galleries at the Musée Picasso Paris. Her work is included in the collections of numerous institutions, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; Tate, London; Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; and many others.

Laurie Anderson is a writer, director, composer, visual artist, musician, and vocalist whose groundbreaking works span the worlds of art, theater, experimental music, and technology. Anderson has created numerous multimedia stage performances, as well as published 10 books and been nominated for five Grammy awards. Her visual work has been exhibited globally, with her largest solo exhibitions to date recently displayed at the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, D.C., and Moderna Museet in Stockholm. In 2024, she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Recording Academy. Anderson is currently working on an opera, ARK, for the 2024 Manchester International Festival.
