Bios
Born in Portland, Oregon, in 1986, Jessi Reaves studied at the Rhode Island School of Design. Her work has been showcased in numerous prestigious exhibitions, including the Whitney Biennial and the Carnegie International, and is held in the collections of the Brandhorst Museum, Munich; Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; and the Walker, among others. Her work questions the notion that form follows function by creating pieces that transcend this boundary. Both playful and provocative, her handcrafted sculptures are baroque and sometimes grotesque assemblages constructed from furniture, decorative items, material scraps, and other disparate materials.
Amy Thielen is a two-time James Beard Award-winning writer, cookbook author, and chef. Her books include The New Midwestern Table, the memoir Give a Girl a Knife, and Company: The Radically Casual Art of Cooking for Others. Her cooking show, Heartland Table, ran on Food Network from 2013 to 2015, and she is currently the host of Ham Radio, a podcast and live on-air cooking show in partnership with KAXE/KBXE, Northern Community Radio, Grand Rapids/Bemidji. Thielen lives in Park Rapids, Minnesota, with her husband, visual artist Aaron Spangler, and their son, where she is a board member of the Nemeth Art Center. In recent years, Thielen and Kristin Tyborski have teamed up for fundraisers to benefit the Nemeth, and rather like cooking together to celebrate art, artists, and their communities.
Kristin Tyborski is a Minneapolis-based chef with roots in fine dining, a love for collaboration, and a style that leans light, bright, and artfully composed. Her career has included restaurant work, private events, catering, cooking classes and culinary consulting—always with a focus on thoughtful, expressive food. After stepping back from professional kitchens to care for her three kids, Tyborski rediscovered food as a creative and connective force. Her work now explores the quieter, more personal side of hospitality: nourishing and rooted in joy. These days, most of her meals are made to be eaten between soccer games or in a minivan—and she wouldn’t have it any other way!
