Born in Spain, Muntadas lives and works in New York. For over twenty years, he has been making videos and multi-media installations that have addressed various social, political and communication issues, the relationship between public and private space within social frameworks, and investigations of channels of information and the ways they may be used to censor central information or promulgate ideas. His works often involve others in performative contexts; he invites participants to contribute in a variety of ways to the final form of the work. throughout his work, Muntadas reminds us that there is no such thing as a disinterested or objective context, be it spatial, electronic, or social.
