The Walker Art Center and guest curator Megan Mayer are seeking dance makers of all forms to be presented in the 45th Annual Choreographers’ Evening.
A fierce advocate for the thriving Twin Cities dance community for 30 years, Megan Mayer is a 2016 and 2010 McKnight Choreography Fellow, a 2012 MANCC resident artist, and a respected performer. Her work Soft Fences won the 2015 Sage Award for Outstanding Design. She creates work concerning the body, tiny emotional undercurrents, minimalism, mimicry, wry humor, loneliness, fake bad timing, and exacting musicality.
Dance is a radical action. I’m interested in visually compelling dances made with integrity, coming from a clear voice or aesthetic. I invite work that features diverse bodies of all genders and ages. All dance forms are welcome, including experimental work that doesn’t fit neatly into a category or style.
— Megan Mayer
