Art + Museum Transparency

Art + Museum Transparency is a non-hierarchical group of arts and museum workers who traverse institutions and job titles. In May 2019, we produced an open, editable spreadsheet on Google Docs that contained our salaries at current and past positions, shared it on our social networks and various list servs, and in response over 3,000 colleagues in our field shared their salaries too. It prompted unprecedented conversation and action on compensation and labor. We followed up with op-eds and a spreadsheet to end unpaid internships in our field, and a spreadsheet to support unionization efforts in arts and museum organizations. Our Twitter feed @AMTransparency amplifies and agitates for better working conditions and solidarity among colleagues, nationally and internationally.
