Chris Larson is a St. Paul-based artist and musician who has developed a multimedia practice rooted in sculpture that incorporates film, video, photography, sound, and drawing. He is an Associate Professor of Art and the Director of Undergraduate Studies at the University of Minnesota. Larson is also the publisher of InReview, a quarterly print publication presenting critical responses to art in the Twin Cities. In 2016, the Walker presented Chris Larson: Land Speed Record, a collaboration with Grant Hart.

Grant Hart’s passing on September 14 at age 56 meant the death of a good friend, a creative partner, and a mercurial inspiration for artist Chris Larson, whose 2016 Walker exhibition Land Speed Record was created in deep collaboration with Hart. In remembrance, Larson shares a page from his journal, written the night of his friend’s passing, and an artwork by Hart.
