Juleana Enright is a queer, non-binary, Indigenous writer living in Minneapolis. Their past roles have included culture editor for l'étoile magazine and communications specialist for local independent art space, Gamut Gallery. They have contributed to local platforms Secrets of the City, the 651 blog, RedCurrent, and City Pages, through which they interviewed both local and nationally renowned notables including Dan Savage, Genesis P'Orridge, Roxanne Gay, and Cherie Currie (The Runaways). Juleana has curated two art exhibitions, including their own solo show in the spring of 2018, titled Soft Boundaries, which explored how the vulnerable narrative can be used as a an act of resistance, liberation, and healing. They have been awarded a fellowship from mnartists.org and worked with KFAI Radio to create audio documentaries. Active in the local DJ scene, Juleana has worked as a mentor for the DJ-U program, a nonprofit workshop series by and for femme & non-binary POC, and is the co-curator the monthly multisensory queer dance and performance night, Feelsworldwide. They currently write for Pride Magazine and mplsart.com.

It’s my philosophy to represent all people in our community.” In advance of Indigenous Spirit: Gender Fluid Fashion, a June 13 showcase of designs by Delina White of IAmAnishinaabe, Minneapolis-based, Lakota-born non-binary artist Juleana Enright caught up with White to chat about the future of Indigenous fashion and the inspiration behind this gender-fluid collection.
