Mia Lopez

Mia Lopez was a Curatorial Fellow for Visual Arts at the Walker Art Center between 2013 and 2015. During her time at the Walker, Mia collaborated on exhibitions including Art at the Center: 75 Years of Walker Collections and International Pop. She was a 2012 Smithsonian Latino Museum Studies Program fellow and was formerly Programming Coordinator at the Museo Alameda in San Antonio. She has interned and worked at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington DC, the Contemporary Art Museum in Houston, the Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum in San Antonio, and the Rice Gallery in Houston. Mia holds a dual Masters from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Modern Art History, Theory, and Criticism and Arts Administration and Policy. Her graduate thesis examined anthropology, museology, and performance in the work of the Mexican American artist Guillermo Gómez-Peña and Cuban-American artist Coco Fusco.
