This past summer, the Walker produced more than 2,000 art packs to distribute to families in need. Each pack included high-quality art materials such as tempera paint, brushes, construction paper, pencils, and more, as well as instructions for fun art activities. They helped to ensure many
families affected by the pandemic had opportunities to get creative in their own homes. After successfully collaborating with St. Paul Public Schools Nutrition Services to share the packs at meal distribution sites, the museum also contacted Minneapolis Public Schools to develop similar plan for their students.
Chase, the generous sponsor of the Walker’s 2020–2021 Performing Arts season, made this creative response to difficult circumstances possible. “Chase is an incredibly engaged partner,” said Walker Executive Director Mary Ceruti. “The bank’s answer to this important need was an emphatic yes! Supporting the art pack initiative on top of the important work created by our Performing Arts team was an inspiration and a demonstration of Chase’s commitment to the community.”
Proudly serving nearly half of US households with a broad range of financial services, Chase began opening branches in Minneapolis and St. Paul in 2019. Most recently, the company opened a new branch in the Ventura Village neighborhood, which is the first in the state to feature an enhanced format to help address the needs of underserved communities. Chase has joined other Twin Cities corporate citizens in supporting the Walker and is demonstrating a serious commitment to Minnesota and the metro area. “The Twin Cities is a vibrant, growing community and expanding here means we’ll help more people benefit from a growing economy,” said Jonathan Jensen, market director, Minnesota at Chase. “Supporting local businesses and philanthropic efforts is an important part of that goal, which is why we are proud to team with the Walker. When people express themselves, they enrich all our lives.”
