What will you discover at Open Field? We’ll be diving into actively sharing the line-up of summer events ahead. Saturday marks the official start of Open Field season with Northern Spark at the Walker. On the field you’ll find glow games, Drawing NIGHTclub and Dan Newton playing accordion.
Introducing: Dan Newton, aka “Daddy Squeeze”
Dan Newton’s fresh approach to the much-maligned squeeze-box and his mind-boggling repertoire of both original and traditional material will change the minds of the most hardened accordion skeptics. Drawing influences from such sources as French musette, gypsy swing, Cajun, jug band, Tex-Mex, and cumbia, he calls this global gumbo “ethnoclectic” music.
Sounds like: an old-time jam in a French cafe
Expect: to feel transported to another time or place
Inspired by: coffee, hot sauce, birds, nighttime skies, dancers, lovers
Good if you’re in the mood for: dancing, dreaming, wine
Purchase Dan’s music at his show or at CD Baby.
